What are the Requirements for Labelling Whiskey as Irish Whiskey?

I am wondering about the requirements for being allowed to label whiskey as Irish Whiskey. I've learned about the IRISH WHISKEY ACT of 1980. Here, it states that Irish Whiskey must have an alcohol percentage less than 94.8 % Volume. It has to be stored in oak casks and matured at least three years in the ROI or the north plus some other requirements.

Lots of websites mention the whiskey must have at least 40 % alcohol volume and should be stored in casks no larger than 700 liters, and the whiskey has to be potstill, malt or grain. Blends are allowed. These and some other requirements are listed in the TECHNICAL FILE compiled by the Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

    Are there other public requirements?

It's all in the technical file.

There'd also be some requirements that would apply to all alcohol products like %ABV, capacity, address of importer or producer etc.

When you say "It's all in the technical file", do you mean that there are no other files from government bodies containing requirements - other than of course the Irish Whiskey Act of 1980?

There's all you need. No other requirements other than those listed in the attached technical file.

That's great, thanks a lot. I am inclined to agree with you that the Technical File is all that is needed, since the Irish Whiskey Act is mentioned. I wonder about the version on us.v-cdn.net. That one says Oct 2014. There is no date on the Technical File on the Dept of Agriculture website except it says "As registered by the EU Commission Services on 27th March 2019" in front. But I presume they both have the same content since the newest year discussed is 2014.
