iPhone 13 pro blank camera app but works in Snapchat

    Hi folks,

    Picked up an iPhone 13 pro for daughter for Xmas. Sent to apple for a new battery last month..when she set up today it updated etc but the camera app is blank screen, front and rear. It works fine in Snapchat and other apps..a quick Google suggests it's a known issue.. someone suggested updating to latest beta which I did but made no difference. Next step is a factory reset..it wouldn't have warranty but I assume the fact apple ran a diagnostic on it before they would take.it back to fit the battery and said it was all fine means they might do something with it?

    have you forced restart / reset on it (not factory reset) ? If screen is locked and you launch camera from the widget icon there does it work?

    Yes tried both and still no joy.. still same after factory reset. Will get onto app support next few days. Weird how it works in Snapchat

    yeah and I’ve seen it before on my iPhone X but I put it down to the fact my phone is near capacity and presumed that was why. Then when I close out of it and open camera app again it usually works. Let me know what they say.

    Will do.. it's 256gb.. could it be something to do with iCloud photo settings?

    Tried WhatsApp and it's flaky with the camera works then freezes. Downloaded an app called procam and that works fine..I guess I'll get onto apple tomorrow

    Are you on latest software update? mine is the 256gb Iphone X, so not sure if it’s related. I don’t use iCloud hence thinking it was my phones capacity as I’ve a lot of memory used up on it so put it down to just being slow. Let me know if you get any more clarity on it.

    have you set the phone up as new or have you restored a back up onto the device when setting it up? Might be no harm to set up as new just in case there’s some bug embedded into a previous back up. Also, if that doesn’t work, no harm to connect to a PC or Mac and restore it rather than just erasing it. It will install a “clean” version of iOS.

    The fact it’s working in Snapchat would suggests it’s not a hardware issue with the camera module or its connections.

    Was on with apple support for 2 hours.. eventually tried restoring via iTunes but the process never gets past downloading the update on the computer and the phone comes out or recovery mode. Scheduled a collection and repair. I think they will cover the cost as it's a refurb they sent me in October for a unit I sent in for a battery replacement. Anyway sure what can you do bit of a dose

    Finally managed to install iOS 18.2 via iTunes and camera still the same will go the send back route..they sending out a box to take back.. annoying really how it's working in some apps so something small wrong

    sent this back to apple last Tuesday (new years eve) after they had sent out a return box Monday.. was back with us Monday and working perfectly.. don't know what they did but camera is working as expected. they have a super quick turnaround time in fairness to them
