Talk to the vet about installments

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 508 ✭✭✭Dublinandy3

Your vet should accept a payment plan if you ask, especially if you have half the money.

    Possibly try a credit union.

I'm sure you'll get some from the go find me, people like to give to these types of things. Not sure it's allowed to ask in here though, or post the link.

    Instalments with the vet.

It's only student loans, tall to them about deferring etc and look after your dog. Money comes and goes, a pet is a pet and deserves to be helped.

    ask family and friends too.

My advice is to get pet insurance.

Once a dog gets to 8, the cover starts to diminish. Over 10, and unless it's an issue already being treated, it's near worthless.

A liver issue suggests an older dog. (Might be wrong)

I'd pass details of the gofund me to people you know - but also a vet will do installments

These small dogs can suffer liver issues as they get on, but they do offer phenomenal companionship and I can see why you have reached out.

Hope the gofund me is successful 😊

best of luck OP, you sound like a very kind and decent person. I remember once at a particularly difficult time in my life financially being charged hundreds of euro for scans for a cat that had to be repeated. She was a rescue cat too, along with 3 others I had, feeding them and really minding them well. That day I cried in front of of the vet as I literally had so little money. I paid on my credit card then repaid that slowly. I know the stress.

Too late for insurance but I would definitely plead your case with the Vet and ask for an instalment plan. But definitely check out GoFundMe as I think people are very good helping with animals. Make sure your story is authentic and believable and best of luck. (Put a link here if you set up a page and I will donate)

The mod took down the go fund me link but the dog is called Pippa Maloney 😊😊

Hopefully the target will be reached tonight

Hopefully Pippa has a successful surgery and will live for many more years.

spotted similar post on Reddit with differing story same go fund me. Target has been moved from 900 to 1600.
Also the gofundme organiser had a male name which is now changed to pippy. Beware

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Feltskies

That was me too, the profile was my name. Her name is Pippy. I've been in a blind panic but I did manage to get help for her. The fund me didn't change either. Don't make this harder.

I used the exact same post in both places. I'll upload photos and updates too. But yes diligence obviously important

Gofundme do this - I used to use them for a school collection and changed to idonate where these auto changes to a target did not happen.

OPs previous posts add up to the genuineness of the post. Also, the type of dog is known for liver issues (I have one on liver meditation).

Well the target was surpassed so best of luck.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

Couldn't find go fund me, but glad target is reached. My little dog needed surgery this year, 2 k, thank God for pet insurance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Feltskies

Yes don't want anymore donating. I sold my car too so we all got there in the end.

I'm really moved. Just praying now she is OK with the procedure but she's young 🙏

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Feltskies

Thank you jvince. It's not easy doing this and i do feel like I'm doing something wrong by seeking help but I was caught.

Yes she's a Westie mix and they guessed what it was before they found it. But they said liver can heal without a small portion.

I could come back with an update. God I hope it'll be a good one.

the story on Reddit didn’t match the story here. One of the stories said sold my car and the other one said thinking about selling my car only a few hours apart.

OP disputed this claiming it’s the same post on both websites which it wasn’t but then edited the post here so it’s no longer visible.

    Thats why I was suspicious.

The target was hit 2 days ago and the gfm is still active.

If genuine I hope it works out OP. But there are many fradulent gfm setup all the time hence the caution. And still there is no proof this is real. It could well be real and I’m not saying it’s definitely not real but there’s no actual solid proof it’s real.

If I setup a gofundme or needed to. Proof by documentation and photographs with timestamps attached would be a must along with the story. I’d include a photo of myself as well.

I want to highlight- I’m not saying this isn’t real. I’m just saying there isn’t enough evidence to prove otherwise.

I saw the Reddit post - it was much the same.

I also know the cost of this operation and how it affects small white dogs - my bill was over 2k and as she was 12, insurance was no use.

Previous posts from couple of years about starting masters ago also added credibility.

Target has been reached, but gofundme always leave them open until the stated end which by default starts at a week.

I'd be very careful on these things as I fundraise myself for a school benevolent fund and also make recommendations on payouts, (some are in the thousands) so have first hand experience in requests - and I have zero concerns with this one.

I saw the Reddit post - it was much the same

    • It wasn't, one post stated they sold their car and the other post stated they were thinking about selling their car expressing ugrency to get money up.

I also know the cost of this operation and how it affects small white dogs - my bill was over 2k and as she was 12, insurance was no use.

    • This point makes no difference. My friend has a french bulldog and had to spend 3k for an operation 6 months ago. Due to some issue with liver. A quick google will guide surgery and costings etc etc

Previous posts from couple of years about starting masters ago also added credibility.

    • I checked the users post history on reddit at the time and can confirm it did look they were a student studying masters but still doesn't provide proof the GFM is not fraudulent. Broke student needs cash in january?

Target has been reached, but gofundme always leave them open until the stated end which by default starts at a week.

    • Thats fine but if the operation was urgent you would think they would close the gfm and withdraw ASAP seeing as how they reached their target of €900.
The GFM is still live sitting at €1010

I'd be very careful on these things as I fundraise myself for a school benevolent fund and also make recommendations on payouts, (some are in the thousands) so have first hand experience in requests - and I have zero concerns with this one.

    • The fact there isn't one shred of actual evidence this is real. Even an easily faked invoice or letter outlining costings showing the Vet name?

But you can say you've zero concerns with this is worrying and especially the fact you claim you manage payouts in the thousands relating to fundraisers.

How can you have zero concerns? Theres a high possibility this is real but even if it is real and you can say you've zero concerns without a shred of evidence is pretty outragous.

    Ffs, give it a rest.

I can do whatever I like with my money.

I have no concerns whatsoever. I gave €150. Frankly a pittance for me, but should make a difference.

You obviously have a personal vendetta against this person, or maybe someone who has a hatred for dogs.

Frankly your posting is off the charts and you come across as a rather heartless person
