Sensitivity to nosie

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post. I've lived in similar apartments for 6+ years and never really had any issues with noise.

Over the last 2 or 3 weeks I've become obsessed with the noise. The apartments are very well noise insulated. The main noise is "transfer noise" doors slamming, apartment above hoovering etc.

Now it's all I can hear. Any noise I hear really impacts me, I'm on edge, waiting for the next noise to appear. I've no idea where this came from or what to do about it. It's impacting me a lot, can't sleep, always on edge, overthinking, so mentally drained.

I'd rather not move. I've lived here for 6 years and love it bar the last few weeks. But nothing has changed, it's all in my head.

After being sick with sinus, flu, covid et al sometimes tinnitus or noise sensitivity can result.

Are you working from home ?

You may just be stuck at home top much.

Was down with the flu for about a week, which does align with when it started but never heard of it being caused by flu before.

Yep, I work from home, but have been for 4 years. I get out a fair bit, though maybe not as much as usual with being sick and then the weather.

That's a long time to be WfH. I did it for 19 months over lockdown and it nearly drove me mad.

Are you living alone? What sort of human interaction would you have on a daily or weekly basis?

Could you be suffering from anxiety or depression. Being annoyed by simple things is one of the many symptoms.

I'd say you've developed some kind of anxiety issue. Try and make sure to get out more or even try working in a coffee shop or library or even the office.

No, live with a room mate. Would go for a walk with him most days, then in the evenings meet up with different people maybe 2/3 days during the week. Over the weekend I'd rarely be at the house except the evenings.

Would normally go abroad once every 4/6 weeks as well. So it's not like I'm locking myself in the apartment by myself
