Job application, CV in PDF or Word?

I was always wondering, in a job application is the CV to be in PDF or in Word format?

Does PDF get easier rejected than Word or is it the other way around? ( considering that most recruiters and HR work with some kind of AI solution these days )

PDF is best in my opinion as formatting can't be messed up, you know what you see is what they'll see on the other side. I can't imagine you would ever have an issue with it being rejected, as far as I'm aware PDFs are safer than Word docs also.

Thanks for the answers. I've always used PDF, but was unsure if AI used by recuriters or HR would automatically reject my application.

AI can read PDF even easier than a Word document. With Word, formatting issues can crop up. As another poster said, what you see is what you get and what the recruiter and AI gets too.
