I removed 2 crumbling plates from the front hubs of a mini one recently. Not mentioned & car passed. Their function is negligible IMO. If they are in sh*t, remove them completely, thus taking away the opportunity for a tester to either fail them on dig deeper.

Yes had many in for failed rusty back plates , NCT fail ,if they know that model has back plates and are not there they might still fail it. Its a chance you take.

I just passed the nct with one missing and one bent back plate. If I get time this weekend, it will have two missing back plates.

Rusty back plates are a fail and if they are removed thats also a fail but lots of people get through removing them, just depends who you get

Going for test tonight so will report back (will full remove them as there in bits)

Didn't fail on backing plates anyway

Mine are in a shocking state (and unobtainium as replacements) and didn't fail - definitely seems to be tester dependent if others have failed on them.
