We are thinking about getting solar panels and I think we are happy to go with them. But is it normal to pay fully up front before install?

Has anyone who has installed panels do this?

No, that's not normal in my view. 40% payment up front, remaining 60% once system is energised.

Personally I would never use a company for any sort of work on the house that is asking to be paid 100% before works are complete.

When I got solar installed it was €1000 on signing contract, 50% on confirming install date and balance after installation

Ours was 50% up front and 50% on completion.

Any payment upfront not on a credit card or paypal is dangerous.

    To many companies going bust.

I'm getting email discounts off one at the minute. I'm expecting them to take a few 100k of people and shut up shop.

Don't pay all upfront. I paid 50% when signing deal/contract and the rest when installed.
