New Build Cost - Kerry Area

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has recent experience of the cost of building a new house in the Kerry area. Considering buying a site but a little apprehensive at some of the costs that are mentioned in the news and don't want to get started on this journey if it ends up costing a fortune. Planning approval aside, would be looking at building a 2 story house of basic symmetrical shape approx 2,200 sq feet. Would require a contractor to get it to builders finish as I wouldn't have time to manage a self build. Any first hand experience appreciated.

We are in Kerry and are looking to build extension. Hired an architect to draw plans. Gave budget of 100k. Quotes coming in more than double. So be careful. Don't trust their figures.

That size house to build in Galway county the best part of a half a million going via a contractor with probably another 50 to 100 k to furnish/floor etc if going daft on it.

Could probably get done cheaper going direct labour etc.

    Costs are out of control
