I have a small bedroom at the front of my house, just 6.5msq and it's the only room in the house that still has an artex ceiling.

House is from 1906 so it's possible it might be asbestos. It just looks like regular 1970s/80s stippling with the little spikes.

I was originally going to get someone to skim over it, but have been reading now about the potential for delamination.

I've a loft bed in the room too so can't really board over it as it would lose vertical head space for the bed.

Only option I can think of now at the moment is removal.

Has anyone had this done recently? Any ideas on cost and pointers towards a good contractor? I reached out to one contact this morning and was quoted €2,000 including VAT, which seems excessive for such a small room.
