So many people I know particularly over 40s miss Winning Streak, particularly the version Marty W hosted.

It was an institution of the Saturday night schedule on RTÉ.

It put the spotlight on rural Ireland, and rural people. As well as the Dubs and the Corkonians winning plenty!

When oh when will it be returned to the schedule?

So many of us loved watching it and getting to know the participants at some level and their town land/parish.

The “spin the wheel” was a highlight of the week!

I believe that Winning Streak has had it's day.

It's been on for over 30 years and there's only so much you can do with the format of it to keep it entertaining for audiences. It's become essentially watching people opening digital scrathcards and with the standard of modern day tv and streaming services, it can no longer really compete at a prime time slot.

    Hopefully never.

It glorified gambling by buying those scratchcards in a long shot of getting on the show.

it was a ratings success for many a long year and I have no doubt it will be again if they bring it back on a Saturday night.

Comments of the above type are not welcome here, even they are meant to be a joke, it is in very bad taste.

It last aired exactly 5 years ago, COVID was ideal for RTE and the national lottery to quietly kill it, they wanted rid of it for years but feared a backlash.

I'd agree, it was of it's time and grand when there was nothing else.

First they came for the socialists...
