    Hello
I was thinking of getting a house in galway.
I am on disability benefit and am hoping to get rent allowance.

was wondering who do i contact to ask about rent allowance.
How long before rent allowance pays the first rent bill.
does it take a long time to start up.

I know go to galway wednesday and go to galway advertister office.
And ask the landloard in the paper will he take rent allowance.

After i get the flat i hope to look for work.

    Any help is appricated.

Rent allowance may not be available to you unless youa re already renting. Make enquiries sooner rather than later

Your local community welfare officer (where you will live).

You pay rent in advance, so typically you need two months rent (deposit + first month) before you move in. I imagine that once paperwork is sorted you could be paid withing 1-2 weeks. As best I know they will only pay it weekly, not monthly. Ask for hte application form as soon as possible.
And ask the landloard in the paper will he take rent allowance.
There is no obligation on you to say you will be availing of rent allowance, although I do think the landlord does need to sign the paperwork.
