eircom have decorated their Stephens Green HQ with a big display boasting about their 100,000 broadband customers. Apparently it looks really nice and they've spent a lot of money on it.

IrelandOffline would like some photos of this. The more professional the better. We have a use for them. :) Can people take some timeout in the evening to take some photos ? You may need a wide-angle lens to get the best shot.

When you get some photos post them here or email them to research@irelandOffline.org

took a few snaps of this last night , i happened to be passing, you asked for professional you got photos... no one else done it,

what do you want it to say... Im pretty good at editing photos.. something short and snappy

something like... X error no dial tone found ... ??

i didn't spend much time or though in taking the photos,I didn't of trying to use wideangle option on my camera to try and get teh building straight on, the fence of the green got in the way! I don't know if you could have ever gotten a balance between the lights and the building/street...

i tried cropping that out and reshaping the perspective to look straight on, but you lose the scale :/ maybe it will look best cropped just to the lights, i dunnno make suggestions people...

the photos are large ~700kb for others to play with...

i sent an e-mail of a picture off to that e-mail above a few days back but I never heard back from them, they obviously have been taking lessons from eircoms customer service team

Obviously comparing IrelandOffline to the largest Telco in the country in regards to customer service makes sense. What with eircom making a few million a day and able to afford a few 1000 payed employees and the yearly budget of IrelandOffline being €50. :p

Thank you, we got your photo that you sent on Thursday. We get on average 5 emails a day from people and sometimes just cannot answer them all until we have free time, which is generally on the weekend. We really need a secretary at this stage.

We are grateful though and thanks you to you and chewy and moridin for taking the time and going to eircom HQ to take the photos.

    Damien.

    Yeah we do!!

Someone who can spare 5 min every 3 or four hours every day to resond to mails, remind certain Committee members about meetings etc :D

That someone DOESN'T need to know USO's inside out, do interviews, be publicly visible (if they don't want to) or be in any way interested or knowledgable about IOFFL.

    Any takers?

Being able to make a good pot of tea is also a distinct benefit.

I've thrown a rough image generator together to work with the eircom photo. You can include the image in HTML as follows
    <img src="http://mebollix.com/eircom.php/your/funny/tag/line/test.jpg"/>

You can use letters numbers and dashes only. So let's see some witty tag lines!!

Like I said, its rough .. so if anyone wants to improve the font a bit, please PM me.

Does it not make more sense to use a shared IMAP account (or webmail) so that a pool of people (including committee) can respond to general queries, moving from the inbox to received, upon doing so?

I can spare some time, but really there'd be a hell of a lot of work involved in telling me what to reply with!!!
