    Finland's reigning champion Mika
    Hakkinen, driving a McLaren-Mercedes,
threw down the gauntlet to world
    championship leader Eddie Irvine by
taking pole position at the Belgian GP.
It was the 20th time Hakkinen had
occupied first place on the grid and he
was joined on the front row by his
    Scottish team-mate David Coulthard.
Irish team Jordan occupied the second
    row with German's Heinz-Harald Frentzen
and English former world champion Damon
    Hill third and fourth respectively.

    But Ferrari driver Irvine, from
    Northern Ireland, had to settle
for sixth spot with his Finnish
    team-mate Mika Salo only ninth.

    so any predictions?

I'm reckoning that Heinz Harold will be second. Irvine third and as much as I hate to say it Hakkinnen first.
