XP Messing with log on/boot screen?

    Hey guys just bein googling around and came across a few sites where you can mod boot screens and start ups and all that.Is this bad for your comp?
    And does anyone have any recommendations on software to use and good tutorials used?

    Yea done this a while back make sure you have the correct boot .exe file, I think it depends on SP installed, it changed with sp1, Its not bad for the comp & looks good if you get a proper one.......

    Suggest you create a back door for your self, use ntbackup / copy repair folder / setup the recovery console / setup a boot disk etc. - if you mess up the boot screens and start ups then you may not be able to get back in again , especially if you are using NTFS

    In the case of boot screens generaly they reccomend setting up the OS to appear twice in the boot.ini ... one entry is the normal xp boot, the other is xp boot with an argument stating which modified (the name escapes me and can't be arsed looking it up) file to load... it's a good failsafe if you've done it right.

    Yeah. All done,Firefox logo,boot screen and some cool looking space logon on screen; a cinch after all that,Downloaded XP styles update and its p*ss easy from there :D
    Would recommend it to anyone who wants a new cool thing there is loads of themes blah blah
