Totally wrong. Last survey carried out showed a weekly attendance of 44%...The 30% figure and "ever attend church" statement doesn't make sense.

Yeah.. a good few of 'em are inaccurate too due to outdated information.

If you're a sharp eye and read a couple, you will see why..

    Such as:
    7) The Irish will eat 12 million crème eggs between New Years Day and
    Easter 2000.
2000!?! Do eating Creme Eggs help you go back in time now? :)
    11) Experts believe that the average price of a 3-bedroom house in Dublin
will rise to £250,000 by 2005.
Last time i checked, the average of a 3-bedroom house in Dublin was well over this!
    25) The average Irish farmer receives £40,000 in EC subsidies every year.
    11) Experts believe that the average price of a 3-bedroom house in Dublin
will rise to £250,000 by 2005.
    20) Bra sales in Ireland increased by £4million between 1998 and 1999.
    4) The average Irish adult spends £3,500 a year on alcohol.
Look closely... what's wrong with these?...... we're not dealing with the oul punt anymore!

Not necessarily... i've inputted some of the text from the facts in Google and the majority of the sites i'm getting back with the same facts on it are Irish.

Getting plenty of college sites especially.

Apologies if what i said came across as a bit harsh.

They were funny - and there's plenty in there that could easily be misconstrued ( is that a word?! :) ) as facts.

the reason they can be misconstrued (? you word not mine!) as facts is because the original sender meant them to be taken as "interesting facts" and not as jokes. This has been going around for years (that's why it still has the £ instead of the €).

    http://www.nightb4.com/ie/dublin/
Dublin, capital, and largest city in the Republic of Ireland, home to over 1 million people, and God knows how many pubs.

It is said that "God created alcohol to prevent the Irish from taking over the Earth", and you can believe this with the number of pubs in the city, over 900, so it’s not surprise that the Irish are famed for their drinking.
    900 x 100 = 90,000 - out by a factor of ten

    BUT:

    http://www.wsbtv.com/entertainment/1306037/detail.html
In the small villages that dot Ireland, pubs play an important role in the social life and are often the hub of the community. For instance, Dingle town, population around 1,000, boasts more than 50 pubs. That's one pub for every 20 people.

Since the list was pre 2K the £ refers to the PUNT (rhymes with bank manager)

That's a hard one to decide... cos a lot of the facts are pretty plausible!

some are real (like the late late one) ... but most are crap.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,711 ✭✭✭StupidLikeAFox

but the late late only goes out once a week, so even though its the longest running it may not necassarily have the greatest number of shows produced ya see

Current average subsidy received by farmers is €7500. This is a higher rate than was paid in 2002. One farmer may have gotten £40,000 in 2002, but that doesn't make it the average!
