White Christmas - Bing & Frank...the best ever.

It can bring tears to my eyes......

Drummer Boy...Bing Crosby & David Bowie. Classic.

I prefer the oldies when it comes to Christmas.

Already said by Woosaysdan: Kevin "Bloody" Wilson's cracker - "Santa Claus You Cúnt!" - this is the most useful Christmas song - to clear out the hangers on :D I'll just put on this lovely CD I found during the week and pop out for a smoke - come back 5 mins later - "Jayson!" :D They tend to clear out fairly quickly then :p (the wrinklies that is - the risk is you end up stuck with people your own age for a mother of a drinkin' session :D )

You strictly have to gauge this one!

about time, someone with a bit of taste, has to be David Bowie
/Bing crosby Drummer boy and also dean martin let it snow.
There is another one with the line" they say there'll be snow at christmas, they say there'll be peace on earth" dont know the name of it but a really good song.
Sorry about everyone who is "Fairytale of new york" but that has got to be one of the worst songs in the history of christmas. It has been played to death for at least another centuary.

I only like christmas songs because they remind me of christmas. That's why new ones don't seem as good.

from CZar I second marilyn monroe's Santa Baby

This isn't Marilyn Monroe. She never sang "Santa Baby". It's Cynthia Basinet - www.cynthiabasinet.com

    Saaw this== www.prweb.com/releases/2004/10/prweb167127.htm:

Cynthia Basinet has had the dubious distinction of being mistaken for Marilyn Monroe. The breathy screen legend never recorded "Santa Baby," and in fact, the highly popular version was recorded by the sexy redheaded actress and recording artist, Cynthia Basinet (aka "c. basinet").

ALso, in the film, "Party Monster".

It HAS to be "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" followed closely by Fairytail.
So I say to all my neighbours, better watch out for yourself. They should never give a license, to a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves

Another one of my favourites is by Nat King Cole. The Christmas Song. That makes me all sentimental too.
You know the one...Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose...

To be honest I'm a big softie when it comes to the old christmas songs...you can take Mariah Carey's version of All I want for Christmas and stuff the turkey with it....it's cack!

One song though that I remember from my childhood, late 70's early 80's is Boney M's, Mary's Boy Child. Not your typical classic but one that I remember fondly.

here it is in all its glory

Quite often I get a thinking
How as kids we got by
Like christmas time in our house
We couldn't even afford a fire

But we made do in our house
Back then when I was young
Dad used to suck a peppermint
And we'd all sit round his tongue

    We couldn't afford no tinsel
    On our christmas tree
So we'd just wheel old grandad in
And make the old **** sneeze...atchoo

Wheel him round the other side granny...atchoo

Well things change so bloody fast
I got children now of me own
Now I heard 'em unwrap their presents
Last night when I got home

    Santa claus you ****
    Where's my ****ing bike
I've unwrapped all this other junk
    There's nothing what i like

    I've wrote you a letter
And i've come to see you twice
    You geriatric wanker
    Where's my ****ing bike

If i wanted a pair of ****ing shoes
    I would've ****ing asked
This cowboy suit and ping-pong set
You can stick right up your arse

You went and mucked my order up
It's enough to make you spew
It's not just me that's pissed off
    My sister's cheesed off too

    Santa claUs you ****
    Where's my ****ing pram
You promised me you ****ing ****
    You know who I am

    'Cos I'm the little girl
You made sit right on your hand
Never mind your ho ho ho
    Where's my ****ing pram

Next time i go to see him
I'm gonna punch him in the guts
    Set his ****ing reindeer loose
    Kick rudolf in the nuts

Just you wait til next year
'Til we get to that store
A mate of my little sister
'll come stomping through that door

Hey mums and dads just check his breath
    And watch his bloodshot eyes
Don't listen to him boys and girls
    'Cos he tells ****ing lies

    He's a pisstake and a pervert
    He's not even ****ing bright
    'Cos that ****ing wanker
    Forgot my ****ing bike

    Hey santa claus you ****
    Where's my ****ing bike
I've unwrapped all this other junk
    There's nothing what I like

I wrote you a ****ing letter
And I came to see you twice
    You geriatric wanker
    Forgot my ****ing bike

Yeah I'm gonna tell my dad on you
    ****ing punch your head in....****
    I saw mummy sucking santa

    hmmm..

Fairytale of NY - Great song.
Driving home for Christmas - Great song, in fact this is my fav, it's easy to put yourself into Chris Rea's frame of mind during this song. Excellent Stuff.

    But what about
When a Child is Born - Who was that, is it Johnny Matis? Jasus, that and O Holy Night make the hair on my neck stand up! Really class stuff.

    Cheers

    favourite christmas carol...

    Oh holy night
    The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
(cue hair standing on back of neck moment)
    Fall on your knees
    Oh hear the angel voices
    Oh night divine
Oh night when Christ was born
    Oh night divine
    Oh night divine

    favourite christmas song..
    fairytale of new york.
    class.

I'd have to say Fairytale of New York by The Pogues also.

Other favourites would be Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade, the Band Aid song(original version) and Happy Christmas(War is Over)-The original version by John Lennon.
