Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone ever been to this 'Harvey Norman' store? Is it good value?

Sister is on about getting a bunch of electronics: PS2 / TV / iPod etc.

She heard it was good value off some mates in work.

Is it worth looking there? Seems their official Australian site is down.. are the offers only being advertised on radio, or are they in print anywhere on the Web?

its not great to be honest. If you get down to one of his clearance sales sometimes its ok. The one up here in dundalk is really just designed to take advantage of northerners with their sterling. So us locals dont get it cheap but the northerners think they do because they essentially get 33% off marked price. They tend also not to give out too many prices on mass comms media because they want you down to the store to 'check' and then have you walk out pennyless..the things i've priced in there i have found either the same or cheaper elsewhere (xbox, widescreen tv (this doesn't count i bought tv directly from panasonic), and double bed - furniture is ridiculosuly expensive)

One thing that was cheaper is the iRiver H120 mp3 player. It's priced at €300, which is the same as Peats, and the cheapest in Ireland (Unless you buy off Amazon, where you'll only save €10 after delivery)

    Just before you do...
From experience, Harvey Norman's is great! I have bought a load of stuff from them. Example Yahama Amp: Peats €429, Harvey's marked price €419 got it for €389. bought a Yamaha DVD player the next week, marked €229 got it for €189 + he threw in a scart. Trick is to haggle.
There is nowhere in the country cheaper for AV equipment (I have shopped around!).
    T
heir customer service seems fine. I bought a Philips DVD writer which didn't work, when I got it home. They replaced it no problem. I reckon I have spent 5K with them in the last year (including this PC - which was €200 less than PC world, and on a par with an equivalent Dell)

(Not sure about their furniture though, its much harder to compare)

PS I don't work for them, Have nothing to do with them,I am not Australian and I hate their adds .

Ah the ads are great. Opel have a great one running which is very funny and takes the mickey out of the Harvey ads. Priceless.

One but I had to turn it down so they named it after me.

    They called it boss.

I was touched, but that's a different story
