    mercaptans smell bad C-C-S-H

    but sulphur isn't posionous so it would have to Selenium then which smells just as bad

    In that case hydrogen sulphide H-S, but it smells of rotten eggs

    IIRC it's more posionous than cyanide but you smell it long before
