Ok, here's the deal. I have a project to do for college and I have no idea on what to do

I have to come up with a 3min sound fx story. So what to do what to do...

In class we did an example of someone leaving the house, walking to the car, keys rattling, car door opening, engine starts etc. so i can't do this again.

So it has to be enough to fill out 3mins and you have to remember, it's only sound, so someone listening to it must realise what's going on without seeing a picture. Also there are no vocals involved, it can't be a group of people having a conversation. However there is stuff like sighs and breaths aloud.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I think a fantastic idea is a couple breaking up in a busy restaurant. You would have lots of *chink* of china etc. at the end a HUGE smash with all the crockery as the woman exits slamming the door shut.

That's a great idea! Alarm, brushing teeth, Shower, kettle on, corn-flakes being poured into bowl, frige opened, milk open, poured on corn flakes, etc. You could easily stretch it out to 3 minutes.
Only problem is that it's very similar to the idea you did in class

its still a very good idea.. lots of stuff can happen.... its open to some good creatiity which will earn points i think... quite possibly the winnier so far.... anyone else?

Man, you'll get full marks for that.

I did loads of sound scapes for a first year uni project, There's loads of things you can do, football matches, train stations etc etc, the important part is you can pick anything but then you really have to listen to what is happening in a scene... what do we "Really" hear but not register. Like when sitting in a quiet room, you're never really in total silence...

Waking up is a good one, but don't just go for the obvious sounds, think of what's going on outside the box... Ie, think of the background noise, Milk lorries driving past, road sweepers outside the window, babies in the flat upstairs crying.... It's not all about what is happening in your room, that's the great thing about sound, it travels, you can get a sense of what's going on in the next room just by listening.

Sorry if that' a bit of a rant, but your tutor will be much happier if you concentrate on that kind of stuff.
