Myself and my girlfriend of four years broke up a few weeks ago. we're still in touch and are trying the whole "being friends" deely. The thing is, do i have to buy her a present? even something small like a cd or something?

A plain card (don't put any soppy messages or poems in there, just "Best wishes" or whatever"), or a token gift, no more than €20. A book or something. You could try be humourous and get her a book like "Coping with loss", but you'd be lucky if it went down well.

As I said on another thread I got an ex a nutcracker but unless you get presents for all your friends then I do not think that you should get her anything. Having said that, if you can see the two of you getting back then you should get her something.
