Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Irish Netflix = Screenclick ... Anyone used it yet ?

Started wondering if Ireland had a Netflix equivalent, i.e. an online dvd rental company. Did a quick google search & ran into "Screenclick." Was just wondering if any of you use it & whether you think it's worth the price(s)? Am most interested in delivery speed & hence turnaround time.

It was never gonna be as good a deal as Netflix (3 dvds at a time for €13.40) ... But these prices seem a bit steep:

    €19.99 (1 DVD at a time)
    €27.99 (2 DVDs at a time)
    €34.99 (3 DVDs at a time)

Searched the boards & didn't see a single mention of the company... is it brand new ?

€19.99 is very steep... especially considering how slow the postal service is here. You'd be lucky if you managed to get 4 DVDs in a month out of them...

I remember when they opened first and I got a spam email off them... I'm not sure were they got my address from, but they did a really bad job of it and just CC'ed everyone on the mailing list.... and I subsequently received emails from people who were hitting 'reply all' when they were complaining about recieving the spam email..

That and the fact that their prices are so steep put me off them...

I subscribe to them. I was only going to go with them for the free 2 weeks trial period but then decided to stay for one extra month. I meant to cancel after that but made a mess of it so I'm stuck for another month. I'm definitely getting out after that mainly because there are so few movies there that I really want to see, having seen most of the good ones already.

I'd agree with the comment about the postal situation as well. You can tell from their website when they've posted the DVDs and half the time it takes 2 days to get here. That will get worse I imagine this month.

However, they do have a free 2 weeks trial period where it appears you can get out of without paying a cent, so I would try that. It can't hurt. Might wait till after the xmas post though.

It's run by the same prats who ran dvd-rentals.ie.

The market is, in my mind, absolutely open to this kind of thing - I think it'd work superbly in Ireland due to our relatively small land mass and our moviegoing culture. However, Screenclick is a farce. Somebody else could step in and make a lot of money from this...
