Clearwire, one of the largest private telecoms firms offering fixed wireless broadband
services in the US has bought a 75% stake in Net2Cell from the US investment firm
Clarity Partners for an undisclosed sum. Clearwire completed a US$160m (€119.4m)
fund raising during the summer and recently signed an equipment deal with Intel
which will see its private equity arm invest in Clearwire. The remaining 25% stake is
held by Brent Smith, Net2Cell's founder, who still works for the firm rebranded,
    Clearwire Ireland.

Net2Cell owns 18 fixed wireless access licenses in Ireland which were awarded by
ComReg in 2003. These enable Clearwire to offer broadband in designated areas of
    Dublin and Leinster.

Clearwire plans to use WiMax technology and launch a limited service next month to
comply with its license obligations and follow up with a full launch next May.

    Their website is under construction.

I'd say there'll be some queue of Ripwave customers battering down the doors for a trial!
