Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Its a simple enough teaser, but its actually got me looking forward to it,
[apart from the start] it looks very 50s-ish..
spielberg is probably the perfect director for this.

    anyway here it is..
    http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/waroftheworlds/

Oh, btw is "intelligences" a word?? the wording of the voiceover is cuckoo

You beat me to it :)

Yeah I think it looks amazing, sci-fi and disaster films are my thing, so I'm really looking forward to this one.

I hope Spielberg can at least show us some battles in the finished film, and not have it like it was in the trailer. Though it does looks exceedingly cool.

    Can't wait :D
(trying hard to contain my excitement)

The wording and the long-windedness of the voiceover kind of reminded me of trailers for "classic" Spielberg films, like Close Encounters of the Third Kind or Jaws.

    Which is a good thing.

Oh, my bad. I just noticed last night that the voiceover is actually a summary of the first paragraph of the book of "War of the Worlds". And since "intelligences" is used in the book, I'm guessing it's a real word :)

Yeah its just like Richard Burton reading from War Of The Worlds, Jeff Waynes thingy, very scary that.
REALLY looking forward to the film.

I'm still not sure if they have moved it from England to the US... I'm already pissed enough that they moved the timeframe to modern day rather than the 19th centuary, but if they moved the best part of the movie to the US as well...

american director + american money (probably one and the same person if its financed by dreamworks :) == set in america

I'm massivly hyped about this, cant wait.

I loved the jump cut of the mars to teh traffic light

Also had a very 'Close Encounters' feel to it
