TBH, I would consider Wal-Mart's discreet policy of censorship (ie they don't stock cd's with Parental Advisory stickers) to be more disturbing. So much for freedom of speech, you can say what you want but if they have their way nobody will be able to hear it. Didn't they buy Asda or one of the big UK retailers?

Actually, weren't Wal-Mart the ones selling hollow point bullets?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Yes, I believe they were. Ffs, you can buy hollow bullets but not a cd with fvck or sh!t in the lyrics. Balls to that!

Should bullets not come with a Parental Warning sticker too?

TBH, I've seen stupider warnings like on a box of sleeping tablets:

    "Warning, may cause drowsiness"...

I could just imagine the scenario:

A fat bearded man, bringing a 13-year old girl along to the Wal-Mart offices, and claiming she only heard of the words 'fcuk' and 'siht' on a certain Evanescence album she bought in Wal-Mart, and getting them to unstock all metal CDs because of it.

Reminds me of 1st year in school. I took to the 'reproduction' section of my jc science book and drew lingerie on a diagram of the female form, among other things. Anyway, my teacher, who happened to be a pub buddy of my parents (who discovered i was looking at porn on the net a few months previously), caught it and claimed that everything bad that was written/drawn in the book was from me looking at the internet. Fcukers.

    God yeah!

I wouldn't care about them getting pissed off with rock music if it was worthwhile but come on, a few swear words on an Evanescencenesnfesncnseecnnsnfsjncnseuncwiuon album!?! When you compare that to the Dead Kennedies poster (a painting by HR Geiger which I think was called Penis Landscape), now THAT's rock'n'roll.

    Pfft... That's nothing!

I was linked to the fox news story covering Dimebag's murder, and there's a bar down the right hand side of the page with links to other articles, and the headline on one of them was "Preaching Voilence - Muslim extremists in Europe take advantage of liberal freedom-of-speech laws" and I thought to myself WTF!?

Seems US media is trying to make people think that freedom of speach is a bad thing.
This coming from the so-called "Land of the free"?

Remember that its the government and a small percentage of the civilian population that are ignorant fuks (same as anywhere) the vast majority of Americans are decent people

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

They had the chance to vote that government out, but the majority chose not to. Don't get me wrong, some of the people I respect the most are American, but that country seems to be turning to **** at alarming rate and seems hell bent on taking the rest of us with them

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

yeah but look at the US map thats coloured to the voting areas. Almost ALL the States with Big Citys voted democrat. It was the South that fuked it all up. And every american ive talked to has a stereotypical view of the south, and they may be right.

It's scary alright. The bible belt seems to be turning even more fascist than it used to be.

  • Registered Users Posts: 693 ✭✭✭Zoton

It's a bit ridiculous alright. I can just imagine some dumbass waddling up to the wal-mart customer service desk, and roaring at the guy behind the desk, while spraying lumps of half chewed donut everywhere, that he's gonna sue them for zillions cos his daughter heard some 'naughty words'. (Blame Canada anyone?) "Oh and gimme that nice 9 mill, and a box o'hollowpoints while i'm here buddy"

And afaik wal-mart refused to stock undertow anyway, because of its 'offensive' cover.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,918 ✭✭✭Deadwing

Its those dumbass yanks and thier 'something for nothing' attitude. I got fat from eating your burgers, i want money from Mcdonalds! My child heard bad language on your CD, i want money from the store that sold it! I tried to shoot myself in the head but narrowly missed and just grazed myself, i want money from the gun manufacturers!
Ffs, if you think the kid hadnt already heard the word 'sh!t' in everyday language, youre living in a dreamworld. In a just society the moron suing wal-mart should be taken and publically flogged for his own stupidity and for wasting court time that could be taken up better by trying real criminals, i.e the american government.
