Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do you know what the SSID is?

I live near one of those sites, and recently an unsecured SSID popped up in my neighborhood (just 8 random digits). assumed it was a non-tech savvy neighbour, but maybe it is the Eircom free Wi-FI?

set ur ssid to ANY , picks it up automatically

their SSID's are in the format of eircom130, eircom140 or eircom146 etc..

Tried this out, it works very well from some boxes, others seem to be lacking an internet connection though.
Got a steady 1Mbps connection right beside the payphone but the signal is very weak, 50m would be pushing it, line-of-sight only.

Well they advertise them on their website so I would hazard a guess that it is legal yes.

Sorry cant link to the site, stupid session ids and all that. Just do a search for it on the eircom website and you will see, I would assume it is a temporary thing them being free.

A rare opportunity to claw back some value from eircon, it is very handy for me as I have reached my monthly limit on DSL already and I still have about 2GB of stuff to get.

They are trialing it for 3-4 months at which time they will start charging for the service - i doubt many will use it to be honest

places like solas pub on wexford st. and mavis beacon library (dublin castle) give free fast access with no problems.

Just been on the pearse street one, thats pretty decent. It would be great to have one of these outside your home.

Im about to move into castlewood av rathmines about 30 metres from swan centre.
I dont really know the area too well. CAn i get this service?
If im too far away is there any hardware i can get to boost my signal enough to allow me to get it?
The absolute max i'll be away from this will be 500metres (from library) but im sure it'll be much less.
