Win2k & Directx problem

    I'm close to tearing my hair out or re-formating.

    I'm trying to get games to work under a win2k system. I have installed directx (and uninstalled - with difficulty and re-installed it). When I try and launch HL2, I got an error, thinking it was drivers etc but on trying to launch Rome Total war it tells me it cannot locate DirectX, which is installed. Dxdiag doesn't show anything wrong.

    Anyone know hoe I might fix this?

    try reinstalling your graphics cards drivers! what graphics card have you got?

    No that didn't work - I tried that about 5 times.

    Anyway, I've just re-formatted and installed XP instead. Another victory for Micrsoft.
