Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Everybody seems to be getting very excited about WiMax, and I’ve been trying to find out more about it. The ‘White Paper’ someone posted on this board a while back was very technical, and didn’t fully explain the one item I really wanted it to:

What is the difference between WiMax and IBB Ripwave?

The following is an explanation of WiMax from Red Herring:

This seems to suggest that, initially, it will be exactly like RipWave. And in the future, the ‘Ripwave’ modem built into the laptop.

If the future is Ripwave, we are all F@!ked!!

Not too sure what the exact differences are but it looks like the technologies are based on 802.16 and are about to converge :

As far as I can make out, ripwave is a service(including the hardware) from IBB incorperating the connectivaty of WiMax. IBB are the only wireless service provider currently developing a WiMax package and activley testing the service, they are setting up the first WiMax access point in Kildare and are rolling it out in conjunction with Intel as far as I know.
