Anyone know where i can source/advertise for a solicitor with a specific legal speciality?
Is there a law trade magazine or anything?

You could post your requirements here and see if anyone knows a solicitor fitting the bill.

Well i am looking for a solicitor with experience in copyright law.
My current solicitor needs me to explain it to them, will charge for her time to then go and research the laws, and is over all reluctant to pursue matters regarding it because they are not confident in their knowledge of it.

And the matter has now been dragging on too long because of it.

i would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Oh and i am also looking to bring on board the right solicitor to the Designers Guild of Ireland to be the main contact for Graphic Designers regarding Copyright and contract law.

The big 4 have them inhouse but they are bleddy expensive , see if you can formulate your 5 key questions and ask how long the specialist will take to answer and the charge, these are €300 an hour merchants but they already know the stuff. One hour of their time is quality stuff. A Barrister could also answer these questions , cost about €200-500 for ther 'opinion' unless they are big names at the bar.

MOP , A&L Goodbody are 2 of the big 4.

You could try either of these guys, but don't expect them to be cheap. Clark wrote the definitive textbook on the topic.

There should be plenty of 'mid-tier' solicitors who should be able to deal with stuff like this. Intellectual property is a pretty big topic with a long history in Dublin. Just off the top of my head, i'd try Reddy Charlton McKnight. There's also Philip Lee. Both of these are in Dublin. I am sure there are more specialised companies too, but I don't know them.

You could also try joining the Irishlaw mailing list and asking there.

There's not much point in dealing with a big-4 law firm unless you do a fair bit of legal work. The great thing about them is actually that they have vast resources and can move extremely quickly to get you out of a jam.

The quality of work is generally a little less hit-and-miss than the smaller places, but it is definitely possible to be disappointed by one of the big guys.

It might be worth talking to your trademark attorney too (if you have one). They generally know who's good and who's less so, though they may be reluctant to tell you!
