no history in firefox

Find firefox very quick but cant get any history.Have allocated memory and days to keep so that isn't the solution.
I have the very same problem with Opera.
Any help will be much appreciated.

In the toolbar click, Go - History
Or alternatively click Ctrl+H

yes already done that but get message "adress could not be found"
