Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As of week two MAYORDENIS leads by one point. Here are this weeks matches. (Just the 3 o clock games)

    Blackburn V Everton
    Bolton V Man City
    Chelsea V Norwich
    Middlesboro V Aston Villa
    Spurs V Southampton

Just to reiterate you don't have to predict the outcome for any individual game, simply guess how many goals will be scored in total after all 5 games.

    Good Luck

can you guess the same number as someone else??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

You sure can. Sorry Mayordenis I should have informed you of that. My apologies. Should I post rules for it? I'm trying to get a sticky for it to cause it could become popular every matchday as it gives the games that added excitment.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 9,645 Mod ✭✭✭✭mayordenis

cool yeah try and get it stickied its a good game

Hey Fade, will you be running this over Christmas. If so you will be busy on St Steptens day, especially with all that horse racing on also.

If you are going to run it over the Christmas, maybe you should include all the games on that day, due to different KO times. Say for example, St Stepthens day the first game kicks of at 12.30 and the last one KO at 18.00. You would need to have a cut of point for this wy to work though.

Sorry if have overstepped the mark here by offering you a suggestion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

Yes indeed leonard, if you look back at the beginning I made a point of saying "match days" rather than saturdays because I know that there are many occasions such as bank holidays, Christmas..easter etc when there is a heavy schedule of games. As we are now a sticky I'll be posting the relevant games a few days in advance. For example if , we'll say on St.Stephens Day there was a game at 12.30 five games at 3 and maybe one in the night time then just the three o clock games would count. This is the system we've been using up to now and I think it works but if anyone has any ther suggestions they can definitely post them here.

And of course you haven't overstepped the mark, thanks for having an interest in the game. I find that it adds to the excitment of a match day without giving any money to the bookies. And yes there is going to be a monthly prize. Details in the coming week.

    Thanks.

    D

    WEEK THREE

    ST. STEPHEN'S DAY

I've decided to post this one early and because it is that special time of the year and everything becomes a "Christmas Special" we'll include the whole day's games and award points a little differently for this day. The games are as follows:

    Southampton V Charlton
    Arsenal V Fulham
    Crystal Palace V Portsmouth
    Chelsea V Aston Villa
    Blackburn V Newcastle
    Everton V Man City
    Man Utd V Bolton
    Norwich V Spurs
    Birmingham V Middlesboro
    West Brom V Liverpool

As always no individual prediction is needed, just the total from all all games. You can choose the same total as someone else if you wish. Ordinarily you are rewarded 3 points for getting it bang on and 1 point for getting to within a goal of the total but seeing as though Santa is coming soon and everyone is happy we'll award 6 points for an exact match and 3 if you get to within an inch....

The leaderboard is posted previous to this and anyone can join in at anytime. After every month a winner will be crowned and he (or she ahemm) will receive something fanciful in the post. How bad.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to one and all (and here's to Chelsea having a new year hangover)

    "Within an inch"...?

Anyway, I'll give my prediction. and say 27.

    Twenty-seven

Ah I thought within an inch was a mildly humourous thing to say......Ill get me coat....

I wasn't having a go, just wondering what constitutes that inch?

I know normally it means one goal away, but seeing as it's Xmas and all, will it stretch to two, or perhaps three?

I'll go for 25 this week. Certainly makes it alot harder to predict with so many games alright.

Happy Christmas to all, by the way.

Somehow or another I would say that those who posted their guess after 12.30 will probably be excluded from the predictions this week. The first of todays games kicked of at 12.30.

Maybe I might me wrong but I know a bookies would not take a bet from you after the first game kicked off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

Just to clarfy lads.....I posted the games early in the week to give everyone time to make their predictions. Those who posted after the first kick off time will not be included. I know that it would still be impossible to predict a total tally that early but fair is fair.

    Thanks
