ESAT Broadband install

    I ordered broadband on 14/11/04. modem arrived 17/12/04.
    No emails received acknowledging order or advising that modem was on the way even.

    Now I cannot get past the diagnostic when installing.

    How do I know if my a/c has been activated ?
    How do I know my broadband name/password?
    How do i know if the ADSL has beeb enabled at my exchange ?

    Now how do i get past this error situation. Of course it's Sunday. Tech support non-existent....

    Test ADSL synchronization = pass
    Test ADSL (ATM OAM) Loopback test = pass
    Test PPP/PPPoE Server connection = fail
    Ping Default gateway = fail

    The PING fail is OK apparently , but what of ;

    Test PPP/PPPoE Server connection = fail

    Talk about frustration........ ;)

    You should post this in the Computers -> Broadband board to get a better response. But to me it sounds like an authentication issue. You need to enter your username and password that you submitted to esat when ordering (if you ordered online). Its detailed in the manual that comes with the modem. Your username sould be in the format username@iolbb

    Whatever you put on the application form

    How do i know if the ADSL has beeb enabled at my exchange ?

    Go down to your exchange and look up on the roof. There should be a big antenna with a flashing red light on top and a sign saying 'Property of David[size=-1] McRedmond' [/size]

    Tech support are open untill about 5 or 6 on Sunday - 1890 923 111. Get them to check your account has been set up correctly.

    I signed up on line and that name/password combination did not work.
    I changed my password online - esatbt.com ..... no good !

    contacted tech support. no good :( - they could not sort it

    They will ring me tomorrow with a user name and password :)
    Is that progress ?

    Next to the sign is an efigy of the said David - with a sword and a placard saying " Repel all boarders.."

    There's a Santa there and all :)
