Two Firefox questions

How do I get rid of the links bar underneath the address bar in Firefox? I recommended FF to a friend a few weeks ago, and he has a 15" monitor and that bar takes up a considerable amount of the screen at 800x600.

The other question is a problem which I've been having with my homepage ( http://news.bbc.co.uk ) for ages now. Firefox has not been rendering the page correctly. Is the red BBC News header towards the top of that page missing for anybody else in Firefox?

Screenshots of it in Firefox and IE on my comp:
    http://tinypic.com/xzwpd - Firefox
    http://tinypic.com/xzwpx - IE
    (spot the difference)

Could it be Adblock blocking something?

BBC site is fine here on Firefox.
    What firewall app you using?

Kerio and zonealarm will block ad etc too.

works for me too. I've only recently re-installed my whole PC today. Installed firefox 1.0 and I also downloaded flash plugin,

    give flash a go.

let me know if it works :)

Thanks tman, I knew that had to be something simple!

I think Adblock is causing the thing with the BBC site. I disabled Adblock and it loads properly. Now I just have to figure out which of my filters is causing it to be blocked. :(

I don't think there's Flash on the BBC site, but I've to install it anyway, thanks Snipe. :)

    np :)

[EDIT adblock stoped it... and SP2 or norton on mine didn't stop it. Must be agressive program/]

The BBC site is likely borked because both images in that panel have "banner" in their name. This is a common occurence with immature blocklists. Doesn't happen with the pierceive list, try that.

    By looking in the options...

Tools->Options->General. Find the box that says "Homepage" and type in an address. Then hit "Use Current Pages".

try pressing F11 to show/hide menus - though this may need an extension.

F11 on Linux Firefox causes it to go full screen. It does hide the menus in a way...
