That mod chip should do everything you want to do. It will play backups, imports and unsigned code and has a disable switch for Xbox Live. There will be little or no differences between the latest modchips. Most of the extras they offer are LCD screens, bigger bios banks and have no solder adapters, but they still do the same thing.
