monitoring speeds downloads uploads ect

    just got the iol bb free trial and it doesnt seem to be running as fast as on
    freinds pcs i was wondering if there is any way of monitoring speeds or is there a specific setup on configuratuion i need to speed it up.
    is there anything i can use for monitoring the amount of data being downloaded or uploaded
