Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry about that. I spoke to Slarty about it and he said he doesn't mind.

To whoever mentioned Dir en grey, they ROCK! \m/

Yeah, I think the style is awesome, and they totally look hot :) , and I'm not just saying that cause they're Japanese XD.
Im not so mad into the OTT Gothic look though, the malice mizer style, dunno , I like the brightly coloured ones more :), I used to dig the gothic style alot, but I'm just kinda not into it so much any more, it can look very cool though ok.

Kaoru_ai, hey welcome, hehe, I like Dir en Grey also XD and X-Japan.
but ZONE are my fav XD.

The whole "porcelain doll" thing they have going on looks great imo, I love the makeup.

yes, well that's the geisha and maiko influences.
I guess it is a jpop geisha style,

FYI to the retard who made the initial post. That harajuku girl, whom you dare to call a hoe, is a Dir en grey cosplayer. She happens to be dressed as Shinya from Dir en grey, in his Mitsu to Tsuba (Tsumi to Batsu) outfit.
Yes HIS because he is a man. (they are all men)

chill out beeAtch! I never called him or the style a ho!

"Do you think Harajuka girls looks like hoes?"

I asked a question not made a statement. 'Retard'.

I happen to like the style and was planning on changing my everyday wardrope to something similiar. Just wanted to get the crowds general reaction to see if it was feasible as an everyday thing. :p

*edit* sorry if I wasn't sure of the correct terminology or never heard of cosplay .... don't get to many of them up by my way.

mm, yeah but I dont think guys could dress like that in Ireland, people would heckle you and you might be beat up.

mm, yeah ... but I'm female ;) ... still wanted to avoid hassel. Managed leg warmers with flat boots and a mini and wolley tights (to avoid the hoe aspect) .... I don't think Ireland is ready for the casual mini skirt. Maybe just for dressing up ... I may have a second attempt at the style.

In the process of getting some 'dir en grey' tunes ... have to check this stuff out!

OMG! wow! thats such an amazing cute little malice mizer cosplay, i prefer malice mizer a little bit more in the klaha era but then they do look really cool in the gackt era. i love that band, the girl dressed in the blue is dressed as mana, my favorite one ^__^ i dressed as him last year for halloween.

but in honesty i think all the negative talk here is a little unfair, the fashion and individual ways are amazing in this fashion, i dream of going to harajuku bridge on a sunday where they all gather to hang out and have their photo's taken by tourists. i love dressing in the gothic lolita style/street style of japan. try to stand out i guess you could say. its fun the reactions you get

also i love x-japan, dir en grey and all that jrock stuff too! its amazing. :D

    NO WAY!

Yes, I was there thank you very much, and I don't see why you would have any reason to doubt me.

i believe you, its just im used to people telling me stuff like yeah i met them, or i saw my fav band live (moi dix mois) then laughing their head off at me for being so trusting and all  ....its unfair...O_o heh

Wow, I have to say you look fantastic. Nice dog too, yours?

By the way, I have included an exact graphic representation of what I look like in the attatchment. Enjoy.

Well I never heard of Harajuka girls until just now, but I have to say I think some of them look fantastic. What the hell is wrong with some individuality. They look different, fair play to them. Brightens things up a bit!

They obviously aren't called Harajuku girls though, what's the subculture really called. Not LoliCon so something new?

    GothLoli probably, I don't know.

    Ikketsu. ;)

Sadly, I've a limited knowledge of the language, and thus while I could get by in Japan, I can't exactly hold a conversation.

They're pretty cool. But geisha are way cooler...I did my entire reseach topic history thing on them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,440 ✭✭✭✭Piste

The Harajuku style is so pretty, I'd love to wear it but I'm too poor to buy clothes, too lazy and untalented to make them, and I'd probably get the piss ripped out of me in town (and not nearly Aisan enough for it to look good on me, I'd look like such a wannabe)

I like Kawaii stuff though (nothnig to do with Harajuku, just on the subject of Japanese culture and style), like all the Sanrio stuff, generally just for accessories though, like Hello Kitty socks etc.

Yeah afaik Gothis Lolita is contracted to "Loligoth" oh dear god please don't confuse it with Lolicon!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 24 Dreamsphere

ah cool! sanrio. i adore sanrio too, like my melody and hello kitty, i have bags, wallets, towels, pencil cases, stationary >.< i collect them, buy them from ebay. also love pucca, but thats korea >.<

i still dress in that style, even if i get mocked.
