Was dull and wet here ;)

Still dull though dry. Sun was strong yesterday which enabled the tmp to rise to 14C.
Only 7C now, was 9C at midnight.

Pretty heavy shower of rain here at the moment, darn big drops

yeah we had that rain on and off since 7pm in showers-some of it heavy.
    Total was only 2mm though.

Temp is dropping but still far off snow territory

Maxed at 5.1c here today. Cloudy all day.

    Currently 2.3c.

About 5c here today yet people we were playing football in short sleeved
t-shirts. The sun really has abit of warmth to it now and it felt like spring
for the first time! Even if its 4c with a DP of -2c now! which is probably
    cold enuff for snow!:D

A very cold day here despite the sunshine.

The max was only 4.1c and at one point the dp was down to -4c,its now -3c

Thecurrent temp is only 2.7c and falling even though the sun is just setting.

I smell a cold night ahead.

1.8c here, sometime today it hit just under 8c.

I see the dew points are still low.

Perhaps some transient snow over northern munster around 7am?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

7.3c here and drizzle. Some moderate rain earlier today for a time which had drenched everything.

Miserable! Bring back the Northern High.

Some nice, dry weather here although the ground is damp so cutting the lawn is in doubt.

Yesterday had some horrid rain here. Just before it ended, the rain was quite heavy.

Got up to 16.0c here sometime over the weekend!

Currently overcast and drizzle at 10.2c

Hmmm, must have been a dodgy reading.

    Time to relocate the sensor.

Any rotation happening with this as it travels NE? It's intensified over the past few hours.

A bit of thunder to the North of me here, some very strong gusts of wind too!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,909 ✭✭✭✭Wertz

Aye good sized cell passed us in Dundalk about hour and a half ago, few belts of thunder and a 5min hail shower. Lot of convection on met-office radar and that's one hell of a big cloud in Kildare right now...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

We had a belt of thunder here ourselves in south dub, past over quickly though. I bet theres more on the way later this evening judging by the graphs on.

Apparently another tornado(es) reported in the meath area this afternoon...again, the hook pattern can be seen on the 5pm radar, albeit not as dramatic as yesterday's one.

Ah yeh I can see the hourly graphs now. Has anyone ever got a video clip of an Irish tornadoe? I would really like to see one :)

Looking at this evenings high res satellite piccy - > http://saturn.unibe.ch/rsbern/noaa/dw/realtime/current/n1bcurr.jpg , i think its safe to say tonight is going to be very cold over the whole country, hardly a cloud to be seen anywhere.

Interesting development of the trough moving south in the last few hours, air looks much colder on the back edge - sleet in Knock being reported. Might be some snow on the Wicklow mountains tonight, maybe even sleet at low levals for a while.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,264 ✭✭✭highdef

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

Yes we had heavy sleet and hail here for a while last night.
Actually it looked like sleet, very wet sleet but theres nothing on the nearby mountain this morning(2000ft) so it couldnt have been sleet and was more than likely wet hail.
If the high ground more than 1000ft above you has no snow from a prolonged spell of that stuff, then it most certainly wasnt sleet-though it was icy rain.

Cannot see Lugnaquilla this morning as its shrouded in cloud(Very sunny here though) but I'd be surprised if there wasnt snow on the top of that above 2500ft.

It's not unusual to have this kind of cold in April, its kind of common enough actually-What is unusual is the persistance of the cooler spell.
These synoptics would have delivered a lot of snow if they happened in jan/feb.

Heavy wintry looking shower heading towards Weathercheck's neck of the woods in Portmarnock. Looks like I'm gonna miss the worst of it here just to the south and slightly west. Sky is black on one side of the hosue though.

Very squally hail and heavy rain passing N Louth all morning from the NW. Bloody cold too.

[edit] Holy sh*t...immense hailstorm, hail about pea or baked bean size and very heavy fall.
