Impressive met radar at the moment. Not often you see a rain band so big with such a large area of heavy echos

This thread has been quiet lately...

It's been a nice day here in south Louth, but this evening it has been very breezy indeed. The trees are really bending over at times. Coolish evening too. One of those dusks which is nice to look at from inside:)

It's getting quite chilly here at night... first time I've been this cold in months.

There was a loud crack of thunder here about 10 minutes ago, right over head. Near clondalkin.

Lashing down now at a rate of 24.1mm/hr
We're under a large blob of pink according to the met.ie radar and interestingly it has a spot of red just west of here.
Last time it had one of those ,the rain rate went up to 77mm/hr and there was thunder.
Not expecting that now, just slow moving moderate rain.

Total 9mm in the last hour

83.1mm/hr second highest rain rate i recorded. For some reason when i turn on my pc and weather display it doesnt record the rain rate from that day from data logger.I recorded the above from 17.31 today but has not uploaded it for some reason.Monsoon conditions here earlier.
Perfect on the console but not uploading past rain rate data.

Started here mothman around 515 but got very heavy from 530pm

    total now 14.2mm

Rain rate down to 7.4mm/hr now

Whats peculiar about this ,is not a record breaking rain rate, its the quantity ie the length the fairly to very heavy rain is going on.

Usually when you get a spurt of 70mm + it will ease off but this is regularally above 20

Continuing to ease here now down to 6.4mm/hr

    Total 14.7mm in 90 mins-impressive

Any localised flooding been recorded? seems to have eased off a bit now.

Total came to 16.5mm,it parked itself at a drizzle/dry since then-though I reckon it was much more tbh.

I'll look at the rain guage tomorrow as its definitely acting up, there was torrents there at times and it took too long for it to register in my opinion

East Coast FM was reporting flash flooding along the N11 through co wicklow and was asking motorists to drive carefully.

    Raining since about 9am.

Quite heavy at the moment 9.4mm/hr-though I havent looked at that guage yet.

Windy-gusting above 30mph at ground level from the south east.
