Took a drive today down to Cork today.
Was quite interesting to see the varience in the weather.

Drove accross the country on the way down. Was sunny and warm here this morning. About half way there met some light shower and increasing cloud. About 60 KM away it got totally cloudy and dull. By the time I reached Cork city it was damp and drizzly.

Took the coast rod back via Waterford. Cloudy all the way, but dry once outside the City.

By the time I reached Gorey it was nice and sunny again all the way back to home. Assume it was like this all the day on the east coast?

Beautiful day in Central Illinois, around 10C but the sun is out and the next few days are only going to get better and we might even see some 20C weather. :D

Going to be a hard frost here by morning, temperature has dropped from 9°C around 1700 to 0.3C now.
Pretty big diurnal variations at this time of year.
Temperature extremes also seems to be big at this time of year from one place to the other.

A couple of mornings ago it was -0.5°C here and everything was coated white and frosty, was 1.5°in Roundwood with no frost on roofs at all (thats only a two minute drive from the Annamoe bridge here) and 8°C in Loughlinstown.
    Proper frost hollow stuff :)

Temp fell smartly over the last hour but rising again from 6.7c to 7.1c.
DP is still falling 3.2c from 4.1c in same instance as air temp.

It looks like there's very heavy snow to the west of me. Mount Oriel will have lying snow today. We're catching the eastern edge and a few flakes are drifting down.

Good bit colder than here, only got down to -2.5°C which was pretty much bang on what I was expecting.

Right now its 3.1°C and raining, interestingly the temperature is actually falling rather than rising, but suspect this is temporary. Must be snowing and settling on the mountain tops though

I'd say Lugnaquilla has a right covering after today. Must be cold enough up there to snow...

Yep, those solders in the North Prison building must be buried in the stuff there. Wish they had a webcam and offered hostel accommodation to weather nuts like me in the winter as a side earner.

I was out on a message there to the higher reaches of Monasterboice and a 5 minute journey took 10 minutes because of the dense fog. It's not quite so bad here but still, visibility is at about 100 metres or thereabouts. At the highest spots on the road it was at only 20 metres.

Fabulous spring morning here today. Bright sunny and a wonderful frost on the ground and greenery sparkling in the early sunshine, was great driving to work.
    Overnight low was -1.2°C

Temperaure rising fast here, up from 6.2C to 7.8C in the last 2 hours quite a change from mid-twenties out in Marbella. It's amazing how quickly you forget about snow and dewpoint and all that hassle when you can lye out in the warm sun:D. Another dud of a cold snap i suppose, was it?

I'm currently recording +13.5c in warm sunshine. Is it becuase I'm sheltered from the easterly sea breeze? Lower levels seem to be recording around 12c

Noticed that on the drive home on the car thermometer and thought it was odd.
The weather here is clearer though, i think it may be due to humidity and proximity to the sea.

This morning when I headed into work it was lovely, clear sunny with mist gathering in hollows and everything coated in a layer of frosty icing.
However by the time I hit the n11/m50 it was pretty misty, turning into light fog near work.

I think we were lucky, judging from the news this evening, around Kildare, the fog was lethal on the roads.

Misty here right now, might be fog here by morning if such conditions persist. Hope that its not the same in Kildare and more road carnage in the morning.

A few home-grown convective showers kicking off now as the trough approaches, small chance of some lightning activity or hail

Very dense fog where i am in meath-currently 5*c. That precip north west of here seems to have died now but it got quite heavy at one stage- run the loop on this link:http://www.meteo24.com/uk/index.php?q=radar&sid=82ee03f62fa6726. Very hazy air about the last few days, is it industrial haze from the continent? It seems quite dirty.
