Artictree- pleasure meeting up with you today . I reckon you probably have the best views there of anyone on boards - I'm very jealous - must look stunning in the snow.

Showers here now. Your welcome, Longfield! Yeah, its nice up here when the weather is right. Not great during the drizzly stuff though!

It's clear and sunny here, not something i was expecting today:eek: . 3.3mm overnight and pressure now down to 992.9mb. Looking at the sat, it looks like we could get a few hours of sun here today

Took the old Roundwood road home this evening (because apparently there was 5km tailbacks due to an overturned truck on th N11).

It was totally lashing down on the higher parts of that route but only drizzly stuff here - 4.6mm measured since midnight

living outside loughrea in east galway - just coming to the end of the heaviest shower of rain i've ever seen... water bursting through walls, enormous floods in the fields, our cattleshed is under about a foot of water, and the rain is still coming down, thankfully not as heavy as before. second time we've had such a burst this summer.

    anyone buying water?

Between yesterday and today, Kilkenny recorded 26mm, so IMO Met Eireann not as far off the mark as has been suggested though clearly overcooked.

It was quite a complex system, and it was South Wales that saw 40mm.

Yes, my comment was a bit premature:rolleyes: . I've had 26.2mm in the last 24 hours, and 29.6mm since Tuesday midnight

Results day was not the big storm that was feared! A dry and reasonably bright day, with just mid-level cloud. Congrats to Weathercheck btw.

A wet evening yesterday, but nothing extremely heavy. The problem was the rain was stalling over here and was slow to clear.

    Fine and dry.

Couple of light showers here this evening, barely registering on the AWS.
13°C, 6.1mm rain since midnight, almost calm, not a bad evening.

A few showers today, caught a 30mm/hr one but nice and Autumnal type weather out there now.

Just arrived back in from france earlier today and it was quite a shock getting out of the airport and feeling the cold air. We were in Montpellier and Toulouse for a few days where it was 35c and probably even hotter in the city centre where we were. The heat was oppressive but by the sea (near montpellier) it was perfect. There was a massive difference between the weather in Paris and down south. Miserably cloudy with rain on each of the days we were there (end of last week and again yesterday).
Unfortunately I didn't get any t-storms and i only saw big cb's way off on the horizon. Apparently there were some really bad storms last night (on french news) in the east and south but I was back in Paris so missed everything:rolleyes:
Trying to get through all of the forum's I've missed but it doesn't look like anything interesting happened while I was away:)
At least it looks like it will settle down next week here.

Autumnal is the word, noticed the sun in my eye driving home for the first time in a while and its 9PM and almost dark already again....snow days are on the way..
Going to be a cool one tonight, reckon Mothman may come close to a ground frost with his soils there.

Currently 11.9°C with clearing skies and light winds probaly soon to fall calm, wouldn't be surprised to see 5-6°C by dawn here.

Very windy here last night too, one of the trees on the laneway leading to my house was blown down.

Lashing here today, scattered thunderstorms on the cards today and for the rest of the week it seems. Currently around 24C with humidity at 77%.

    Where are you again Ruu?

Beautiful august evening here in Dundalk, deep blue skies and passing cirrus; but a touch of autumn to the breeze. That lovely golden sunshine that you get at this time of year and there's a 1/4 moon out too.
Hope this is a sign of better to come...

Bucketing down here ATM and 11.5c. Hopefully it will improve later...

Wow, there were some VERY intense radar echoes this morning over wales and cornwall, look at the 8:00 and 8:30 image:http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/radar/index.html
Or see the 9:30 image from meteox which shows a massive area of red-http://meteox.com/hist.aspx?URL
Last nights downpours apparently led to flodding here, which is news to me as the fields are no wetter than yesterday and only 12mm fell anyway;http://rte.ie/news/2007/0820/farming.html
