Stay in bed morning. Wet Windy, Mild heading towards 11C

So 11C is not really mild for mid March but compared to recent days.

    Very wet untill lunchtime.
Then mostly dry and windy , with some sun.

Despite the temperatures hitting double figures and all the heavy rain, there are still snow drifts clearly visible in the ditches on the high ground about four miles from here.

Very wet overnight but sunny from early on here, a few showers quite mild.

pissing it down in waterford this morning

    got soaked :(

A little bit of misty light rain so far this morning.
The sky is brighter now, so it's looking like it's not going to do a lot more in the next few hours.
    Currently dry and windy.
Warm though and if the sun pokes through in that brightness it could get balmy :)

mind you mothman has one at home for Ashford, dunno where that observation for Arklow is taken, although I do know of a set up at Ballymoyle hill just north of the town and then there is the NRA equipment on the Arklow By-pass.

Odd day here alternating between clear, sunny and windy and dull, miserable and rainy.

Sounds like torrential rain outside at the moment.

I didn't know there was on in Shercock (yes, I know :o ) until I found it on yahoo weather there not so long ago.

East Cavan: Not too cold, but cloudy.

I may as well shoot the illusion. From what I make out the Arkow figures are the same as Ballycanew and Wexford, and are in fact using the data of Rosslare. Further north, Wicklow, Greystones, Tallaght etc are all the same and are probably Dublin Airport or Casement figures. My weather station is not tied into Yahoo, though I do update to weatherunderground. http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=ICO.WICK2

The set up at Ballymoyle hill as far as I know is a Met Eireann climatological station with manual instruments that are read daily at 0900 GMT. This is the set up that I have for Met Eireann. Most of data on my website is from my personal electonic weather station that is nothing to do with Met Eireann.

As for Shercock on Yahoo weather, have a look at the figures for the nearby towns and most will be same, using figures from probably Clones or Mullingar

Currently 10 minute mean speed here in east Wicklow is a high 32 mph with gust to 51. Temp is a mild 13C

Same here with the rain, though not a whole lot.
I must get on to Met Eireann to put an auto station in with me. I'd say I'd have better chance winning lotto!

Just had a severe squall pass overhead here in Inchicore, Dublin. Looks like it went straight over the city. Got very dark here about 30 minutes ago. Huge black threatening cloud came in from the southwest/west. All of a sudden the wind picked up and was easily gusting to 50/60 mph. This was accomapanied by torrential/blinding hail. Over about 10 minutes now. Alarms going off all over the place and the road outside is flooded. Lots of lying hail still present. No lightning though, which was a surprise. Must have been a huge pressure drop as I got a sudden and severe headache. Still have it but beginning to ease. You can see the squall line on the BBC radar website.

Early rain, then sun for most of the day bar a shower around half four.

NTL-lucky we don't live in tornado alley :D

    /love to go there though

At the 14:00 current conditions report on the Met Eireann website, the weather at Dublin airport was recent shower with a temp of 9C. Can't remember the exact wind speed but it was in the low 20's knots.
At the same time at Casement Aerodrome in the west of the city (a few miles from here), the weather was recent thunder, a temperature of 4C and a wind gust of 47 knnots. This was just after the squall would have passed so the wind was probably actually higher and the temp may well have been lower again.

Thats a great report. The same system passed over me near Wicklow Town at about the same time, but it was very tame here. I listened to radio for interference, but didn't pick any up. Plenty of activity on the lightening chart at that time http://129.13.102.67/wz/pics/Rsfloc.gif The pressure drop you mention is a pressure rise. Something to do with the downdraft making the air heavier and the air being colder. Afraid I only observe and don't know enough to explain and I could be talking through my arse. but it can be seen in the bar graph whenever a shower passes through.

I've attached a graph for my site with temp in red, pressure in black and the other 2 are wind, mean and gust. The pressure jump can be seen just before 2pm along with drop in temp and the rise in wind. All this would have been so much more exaggerated in the Dublin area.
By the way I think the wind gust figure on Met Eireann recent reports is the max during previous hour.
