    About one hour of heavy wind and rain here in S.Wicklow from lunchtime-dry beforehand and dry now with a clearing sky

    Down here the rain did'nt really materialise, but it did in Carlow where I was at lunchtime.

    The system hasnt arrived yet down there Mike and it wont be at its
    worst over you although you can expect gusts to 75mph around

    hmmm,
    Mothman reported a 50mph gust at Ashford at 530
    Mean speed 27 mph...

    It was quite howling when I came in there now-horizontal light rain

    To update you, max gust is 57 mph at 21:17. Max 10 min avg so far is 34mph, but mean for past 2 hours is above 30 mph and mean for the day is 24mph.
    Haven't had many windier days, but have certain had stronger winds, but then the night is young.....

    Should point out that the weather station is on a low site, so I think it's probable that the wind is stronger in many areas locally.

    Had snow for a time this morning, but ground too warm/wet for sticking.

    Winds getting nasty across the Country now with gusts in Belmullet
    reaching 70mph just now :eek: :D

    Gusts are above 50mph over a large portion of the Isle now ;)

    And shockingly mild earlier, 14c at 8 :eek: :eek:

    Ye getting windy here expect even worse on Tuesday

    With gusts to around 150Km possible in the northwest :p

    Was in West Cork near Macroom today-Beautifull sunshine and then all of a sudden , almost black darkness, wind got up and there was an intense downpour of hail and wet sleet.
    It looked like doom approaching from the direction of mullaughanish mt as it closed in.
