Was a very mild night with a min above 9C. Actually still about 9C now. Been mostly cloudy morn, but getting a prolonged sunny interval atm so temp may edge up a bit. Was quite a blustery night as well.

Look more often when conditions are calm. it's not a frost hollow here, but it is lowland and temps can fall low relative to surrounding areas.

    Now it's

    -0.4C

    Grass -6C, lowest of winter!!

    -1.1C

Not far off lowest of winter, didn't expect it to drop this low.

    Grass -7C

    Max today of 10.5C

    Edit
And what did the tV forecast say earlier, down to 2-3C under clear sky?

    Oh -1.3C now

Well it may have bottomed out at -1.6C though if sky remains clear and it stays calm, it could well get colder.

It won't be this cold here during the next week....

Incidently, most of the country is at +6-7C

yeah thats mad isnt it-we've been lucky round here this past few days with the sunshine too.

East Coast FM sounded silly with their forecast tonight-"mostly cloudy with drizzle-min temp 4-7 degree's..."

And I hate when they say things like " its 4 degree's in Bray and Gleneally"
They take a temp at their studios in Bray and decide its that temp all over the county.

It gets really ridiculous when they say its 5 degrees in Greystones and Glencree.
Shur Glencree would be way colder than Greystones...

    Anyway thats off topic :D

That's very obvious when you know a little about the weather here. Such a sham. Someone once asked me, did they take my temp off my website when they heard Ashford being mentioned, so I dropped the bombshell to them, that they just mention thier Bray temp and pluck 2 locations from the county each hour.

Anyway, just to be on topic :D

    Air -1.6C
    Grass -7.5C

    Both lowest of winter.

Thats your temp now Angus??

Nowhere near that here you must be up on a mountain top?
Or more likely near the Curragh??

Im climbing Djouce Tomorrow so it will be chilly if what
    your saying is correct??

    You need geography lessons :D

The Curragh is on the other side of the mountains.

and are you casting doubt on my credibility??

Check my site, it'll be mentioning -1.8C in couple minutes

Its because the sky is clear and no wind

A lot of the country has dropped a degree during past hour though Rosslare has dropped from 6C to 4C as the clear sky has reached there.

No im not Angus its just an amazing variability.
its 6.8c here with a film of cumulo - stratus :D;)

We were speaking to the road ice team at the MET
last week. They predict the road state, air temperature and
ground temperature at all the NRA road weather stations.
Its all to do with the cloud breaks as i know, they compared
the forecast with the actual recordings and its rather poor.. :D
    Hope Dapper aint watching!! :D;)

Predicting where frost may occur is is near impossible.

And Angus i got an A in Geography :p

In the clear blue sunshine this afternoon I could see lugnaquilla and all the snow is gone off it.
    Back on topic... :D
Down to just below minus one here now and icy

Yesterday was dullllllllllll but dry, today its bright and sunny and even quite mild. I may be forced to cut the front lawn later...assuming the mower still works! :D

    Mike.

Cloudy up here by the sea, you can have your Wicklow frost!
Good god it was lovely and sunny and then we headed
up the mountain and the driving fog was not pretty!
Freezing cold, Heavy driving drizzle and soaking wet summed
up my day, visibility was about 25-50m's!

The we head around 100m further down and its nice and sunny!

Can't quite see Djouce from home, but it is often shrouded. Was in the area on Sunday and it was miserable, damp and cold, was nice day at home.

Glorious afternoon and a mild 11C

Just realised, that today, not only was the the lowest temp in these islands (Britain included) here but also the highest temp as well!!

    How bizarre is that?

Max was 11.8C during a bit of sunshine.

    Currently it's 10C
