    A sickening 8.6c!

From Saturday 5 days of frosty and cold weather await
with some snow possible. At least a return to something
seasonal the weather hasnt really moved in the last
2 weeks. Daytime temperatures here of around 10 and
nightime temps of 6!! Thats for Spring or Autumn not
for the coldest part of the year! ;)

Roll on Saturday i say ;)

Gorgeous day with a temperature of 4.6c out the back,
now this is a winters day an early ground frost with
a min dew point of -0.4c and an air temp of 1.9c :)

A hard frost tonight or rather some sleet

Unbroken sunshine all day. Perhaps was delayed in starting by a 10th or 2. 8.6h in all. Didn't feel cold either in the light NW breeze. Temp got up to 8.2C

Has dropped back to 3C now.

Raining. Irish sea showers drifting in. Temp stayed above freezing, now 4C

    Thunder

3 claps so far, 6mm rain heavy at times.

No Thunder down here as yet-but we had a very heavy rain shower about an hour ago.
Thunder is common with heavy Irish sea showers.

Not surprising when the last report from the m2 buoy was in excess of 7c

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    Sleet/Rain/Hail here now ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

A certain hint of ice here at sea level, its surely snow on the
    mountains?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    wet snow now :D

possibly but with a temp of 3c at Dublin airport now, its likely to be either very wet stuff or what we term rain and snow, ie Rain with a few continous wet flakes that settle.
I wouldnt be surprised for some wet stuff to settle at the RTE 3rock mast for instance if the showers are heavy enough and more probably at Kippure which being above 2500 would be in the fire-ing line for snow if you are see-ing iceyness at sea level in the rain.

Plus casement further inland has reported a rain shower at 10 and a temperature rise of 1 degree since 9am.

Yep twas sleety snow but was indeed that.
With Flakes settling on cars etc..
    but very wet yes ;)

    interesting

It will be the first time I ever saw showers move in from the coast(where it is warmer) as wet snow and fall inland at casement(where it is colder) as Rain.

It is indeed a meterological wonder

Heavy rain falling here now temp 3c

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Have you ever thought that perhaps the
    shower was heavier here? :D

Twas indeed wet snow my friend for about 3-4 minutes ;)

Very wet snow at that ;)

I said it was a meterological wonder thats all... and it is

What did you think I meant?

Anyway just took a drive in that last shower towards croghan.
    Sleet from about 600ft.
Wet snow falling at 1000ft(at the gate) and out on the mountain theres lying snow from about 1500ft enough just to crunch under your feet though a bit more right at the top.
Not suprised by that actually, its as I expected.

It's likely mothman will see some if a shower passes over while he's on sugarloaf

    Hmmm maybe not.
The temp at both Dublin Airport and here has now at 1130 rose to 5c suggesting the "snowline" is probably above 3000ft now.
That would indicate rain falling at 3 rock and on the mountain I drove up onto a while ago.
