    Now down to 8C

Topped out at 9c again in a mostly sunny if cool feeling day.
Still some snow in the ditches above 800ft from last week to my west believe it or not.
    Lugnaquilla is looking magestically white

Haven't been following weather today, but have just got hit by what looks like a squall line stretching down Irish Sea coast to Cornwall.

    What's going on??

Strongest gust since March 20th last year of 61mph. Ground is white from the large hail, though precipitation is now rain. Temp has only dropped from 6C-5C

    Edit:
Earthman, report when you back here, looks like it hit Arklow as well, in fact the whole way down the Wexford coast.

yes it did mothman, heavy hail here on and off from about 8pm

Showed up nicely on the radar as some very bright colours in a long line and got a mention on the weather forecast last night on RTÉ as a line of heavy showers with rain hail sleet and snow and thunder that formed over the Irish sea during the day and hit land fall along the East wicklow coast down to north wexford.

They said at 930 that it was currently affecting the East wicklow coast and the north East coast of wexford.
On the radar earlier you can see it form over the eastern irish sea and rush westwards to then drape the coast.

Anyways, it managed to keep us cloudy all night, not a pick of frost here, the temp stayed around 3c

    Now sub zero.

    6C drop in an hour.

Should get lower than the -2.8C in early Feb, the lowest of winter so far

was a nice sunny day today it wasn't roasting but it was a mild change from the cold we have had over the past few weeks.

at the moment its clear but not bitter cold as it was at the time the east was getting all that snow.

    Now 3.4C, that's +3.4C!!

So much for my prediction of coldest of winter, though still plenty of the night to go.
Wind kicked in which forced temp up. Got to a min of -0.9C, Gmin of -6C

Oh stop, theres enough of that on the politics forum :D

Very frosty here at midnight but that disappeared sometime during the night due to cloud cover, twas cloudy early on, a bit of sun now.

    No frost-I'm not complaining :)

Several nice days since my last post here :D

Today was lovely and sunny and felt warm out of the breeze.
The temp today here in the shade got up to an incredible 12c!!

Theres still snow on the hills above a 1000ft near me and over on lugnaquilla theres a lot of snow-someone was telling me they were up there last sunday and in the shady spots on that mountain, there were still waist deep drifts-wow

Eh, whats with the wind??? It's almost blowing a gale here in Dublin at the moment. I don't recall that being forecast. Gusts are easily reaching gale force!

Maxed out at 17.3C at about 14z in the sunshine. Down to 15C now.

Overnight min of 12.2C, now up to 15C, if we can get some sunshine 18C seems possible, or if it can stay windy even 19C with a Foehn wind

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Good heavens, already 18C. Easily a March record, but only recording since late 99.

    El Scorchio  :D

if it wasnt for a cloudy morning we'd be knocking on 20c..

17c and rising as the sun peaks out :D

Last year was a great Paddy's day too i i remember??

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

AWS unreading slightly, Met Office max 18.2C so far. Temp has settled at 17C at moment as it's mostly cloudy, but a good sunny spell coming up. Wind is close to gale gusts, gusting to 36mph at moment.

Lovely and sunny all morning here mostly.

And wait for it.... 19C the breeze feels balmy

This little pocket of the East seems to be way out on the Met.ie reports-many of them are at 12 or 14 c for noon including Dublin airport.

The Arklow by pass is reporting 17c,here inland of that we touched 19c

But look at the road surface temp at the Arklow by pass station 27c when all the rest of them are st 14 or 16 c

It's amazing what a bit of luck and constant sunshine will do.
I'm not complaining as this must be making the grass grow here, in fact you can see it growing like mad in the past few days, and today is heaven for it.

I have bare thermometer for measuring grass min. It's at 25c now, obviously a black road would be higher.

Air temp is now up to 19C. Getting a lenghty sunny spell now.

Put your sun blocker on...I'm not joking!! :)
