Settled down at 18c here now and thats still a lot higher than any of the met stations.
A lot cloudier here now but the sun is still out, it must be one of the exceptions?

The last road temp at the Arklow by pass at 2pm was 30.5 C

25 c on the grass eh? that means the wheat I sowed a few days ago should strike very soon given its got all the rain and now the heat :)

    Maxed out at 19.6C

To put this into perspective, here are the earliest dates in recent years that I've recorded temp this high.

    12/6/00
    12/5/01
29/6/02 (though April 23rd came close)
    30/5/03
    16/5/04

So today is quite exceptional!! haven't had this high in April.

I suppose what's important for the wheat is soil temp, currently 10cm soil temp is a high 13C :)

Current temp is 18C, more by way of cloud.

Well the rest of country is lagging behind east Wicklow again. 17.4C so far, though it's fallen back a bit now. Shannon is best of synoptic with 15C. Sunny here, cloudy elsewhere.

theres been some sun here on and off but not like yesterday, its been mostly cloudy , a sort of foggy cloud.
    Temp maxxed at 15c

    Temp is high at Valentia

    08z 16C
    09z 17C

Here the fog has lifted and temp is rising. Now 10C after a low of 6C

yeah Valentia hit 20c at 11am with 30mph wind gusts, it must feel like a scirrocco :D

At that rate they could easily hit 21 or 22, the southeast wind they have is crucial as its off the land methinks and not the sea.
If it changes to a sea wind, the temp will drop.

We often get very hot here on a summer day for instance if the prevailing weather conditions mean theres a south west wind and its sunny.

Anyway, started off with dense fog, then clear blue sunshine, then mist and now lovely and sunny again.
    Currently 15c

Look at the 40%RH and 20c in Valentia.

    Talk about a Fohn effect!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Valentia still 20C at 12z (actual at 11z was 19.7C)
Belmullet catching up, now at 18C

Now 14C here, the easterly, light as it is, will hold temp down, actually feels warmer than the 17C of past 3 days.

    Sunny

Edit: PS, the max temp at Valentia in March 2004...14.1C! on the 30th.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

Amazing. The RH is 35% there now. Must be beautiful there today! Still 20c.

Valentia up to 20.1C at 12z

Here temp is falling, 12.5C.. still sunny, a cool breeze.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Valentia 20.1C at 13z, probably was higher at some stage during the hour.

12.0C with me in east Wicklow. Little sign of any cloud. I think it's going to be sunniest day of year.

And some of you will have heard on the forecast that it was the warmest March day in Ireland since 1965.

End to end sunshine here with 10.0h recorded.

Now cooling, temp is down to 5.5C

and Danno, I was piggy backing on a thread in another orum where some of the posters have access to the metar data

Interesting, practically calm all day here.

Max of 14.9C in hazy sunshine.

Valentia did get to 17.6C before the rain.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Well it seems i missed some spectacular temperatures but boy was
Cardiff gorgeous yesterday before 3:30

It was foggy above 100m and near the coast where i was staying
but in Cardiff city it felt like a mid summers day :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Moderate rain since 1am, 17mm so far. In contrast Dublin Airport and Casement less than 1mm between in period 00-06z

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    23mm so far

Anyone want to guess final total?

I'd say 35mm+, have to look up, but might be a record breaker today for a 00-24h March day.

    Edit
In fact already a record for a 00-24h march day :)

Though the record for a Met day 09-09z is 37.3mm on March 11th last year.

looks like that rain band is stuck over us for the rest of the day :/
It's got pulses moving from south to north along it mainly over the eastern half of the country.
Expect a lot lot more :/

Ground is sodden with rain here, it started to lash around 11pm I'd say and hasnt stopped.

Will give rest of country figures at about 19z
