the rader on the bbc website shows northern ireland covered in showers with very little making it south of the border so far, lets hope this will change soon. Also southern and southeastern scotland is completely free of showers too - theres alot in the Irish sea which are hitting north Wales.

currently its cold and mixed cloud here but dry.

It just got bloody freezing here in Dundalk. Temp plumetted in the last couple of hours. nra.ie is saying it's 3.5 but I'd say from the biting wind it's colder. If anything falls out of the sky tonight it will be snow I reckon. It was lashing rain earlier but not as cold then.

just had a sleet shower here as per the post in the snow thread.
Closing this for the next 24hrs or so , so that all posts can go into the snow thread here

Having weather reports in two places is confusing so we may as well keep all from this event there.

Re opening thread and have closed the snow one

Relax snow loving pedwans-the winter is only in nappies yet-just you waith untill its a teenager in late december and january :D

Moral plenty of time to come.
I heard Alex Hill of the UK MO on five live the other day saying they were pretty confident now that this coming winter will have its fair share of cold snaps and more easterlies than in recent winters.

Back to the present-It's bitter outside in a strong NW wind
Currently raining in a temp of 4.2c and a dewpoint of 1.4c

Temp up to 5c here and intermitant light rain showers.

Carlow is dry now but windchill is very low, I hope this cold snap is just a taste of whats to come in late Dec and January.

Very cold north veering north east wind today, the temp is stuck on 4.9c with a negative dew point.

The wind veering north east might blow in some very active showers out over the irish sea at the moment-snow for the hills maybe if they come in

cold and wet here in killiney, Was Lashing out of the hevens earlyier,

Current Computer room : Cold but bareable

Dull wet and miserable all day.
When it wasnt raining, it felt like it was.
Currently spitting some rain in a temperature of 5.1c

What I find note worthy is the low temp,it tries to rise like yesterday evening and into the early night it reached 9.2c and now its been low all day.

Imagine the effect a decently sourced easterly would have on that...
Except there is no cold air in the far east of Europe at the moment.

Very low barometric pressure this morning too-it minned out at 969mb but is currently rising and is at 974.1

I've just arrived home , and boy am I glad the car drive is over.

I have NEVER EVER in my wholelife seen instant heavy flooding like around the Stillorgan dual carriageway between Cornelscourt and Stillorgan itself.

The roads were in flott at the top of the hills and in the dips it was hope and plray the car in front doesn't stop because if it does youre one might float away!!

Very localised though, here in Rathgar no signs of anything like it, even in Dundrum.

Take care if you are about to go on the N11 southbound..there is some really nasty flooding just after Stillorgan.
