According to your site you were -3.5c at 730am

I'll bet the lake was frozen over this morning ? That should be enough for inch thick ice?
Surprised me that the lake didn't even have full ice cover and the Moorhen were breaking through it was so thin. Ice was a lot thicker end of Dec.

Must have been al the sunshine the past couple days heating the water. Gmin down to -8.4C and as you say air min -3.5C, both lowest since Mar 04. The -3.5C makes it to 10th place on the low min list this decade.

Meanwhile Birr and Kilkenny had min of -6C with Gmin of -14C and -13C respectively and at 09z, Birr was still at -6C with fog, and Kilkenny -5C though fine. Possibility of an ice day in places where fog persists

While we think its horrible out there in dull dank dreary weather

Spare a thought for much of England where there facing into there second
Ice Day. We have temperatures of 7c imagine what it must feel like with
    temperatures of -2c.

London city center is going to record its lowest maxima for 10 or so years today.

As a temperature inversion over England see's temperature stay below freezing.

Quite an interesting period of weather over there

Thats quite localised though-Lots of Britain stayed above freezing.
It has a lot to do with freezing fog and mist and where that has lifted into low cloud and there being beggar all wind.

Meanwhile 6.2c here-the same temp for 24 hours give or take a decimal point or so.
    Occasional drizzle.

Sunshine most of the way here in Laois today, maxed at 5.5c - I thought it would have been higher with the sunshine.
Low last night was -2.8c, would have been lower only for the fog.

Sky News! LOL! -7c... yeah right!

Maybe in some sandy valley round here if there is no fog, but deffo not in the streets of Dublin! :D:D:D

just dipped below freezing here now.

I noticed a very quick drop from about 3 pm to 6pm under mostly cloudy skies and then it steadied.

    The sky is clear now.

Dewpoint is -4c, the coldest thats been since I first recorded it in september and colder than in any of the Easterlies.

The humidity has been very low today too-down to 58% at one stage I think.

Did get a slight shower overnight.

Same here, pelting down and still is, lot of wind with it too. Such a nice change from the boring few weeks we had, even if we dont get any snow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Practically missed the showers. Did get a brief fall of hail and rain.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

0.9c wet snow sleet scower stuff.

    Light persistant rain.

Air temp has fallen over a degree since the rain started an hour ago

    Now 3.6c

Dewpoint did rise but its now falling again...

    This could get interesting shortly

Snowing above 900ft west of here and I'd imagine that snowline is dropping to circa 700ft about now
