Well no snow in my corner of Mayo yet :( but lots of gusty winds and sleety hail interspersed with brief sunny spells. It's 4c at the moment, but feels much, much colder.

Is the school flooded and you couldnt get to it? :D

Wind at ground level here is gusting to 40mph from the SSE so I'd imagine theres huge waves crashing over any exposed pier. The one in Arklow can be mad on a day like today and very dangerous.

Totally Vile with moderate to heavy rain at times too over an inch-25.7mm since yesterday.

Temp is still stuck here at 6c...

    What do they mean 10c????

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

The misery continues. 54 hours of drizzle. 30mm today, in excess of 45mm since the drizzle started. Temp now 8C, at it highest during this period, despite 10-14C across rest of country. Mean windspeed for day is still at 24mph, so odds on to be windiest March day on record (since Mar 2000)

2nd wettest 00-24h March day on record as well, though well short of the 53mm on 21st March last year

Well I've had a station record here for the wettest day since records began (last october :D)
Now 22.4mm today and heavy rain still falling so that total will go above 25 or 25 by midnight.

Total rainfall non stop today and yesterday is now 36.4mm and rising

    Wind still gusting to 30mph

As yesterday - brilliant sunshine, fantastic blue sky, no wind. Another day for coffee outside. Could not believe the Met Eireann description this morning on RTE "This morning is dull and wet and some fog is still around". Clearly, Co. Cork is not on their radar. Perhaps they are fooled by the Cork Airport description of the weather as "fine". Its another great day!
