is it quick as paypal and is it reliable etc

You could use an escrow service which holds the money until buyer and seller are satisfied with the transaction.

You really need to have a credit card for paypal, otherwise you can't pay for stuff.
How about you go to paypal.com and read the FAQ?

It's safe, free (if you're buying) and easy to use.

no, you'll need to get someone with a credit card to use it for you
i've done this for friends a few times (used my CC to pay for their auctions)

WU is basically like handing someone the cash, you've no comeback whatsoever if they turn out to be dodgy, and if someone is asking for WU, there's a good chance that they are dodgy.

Use your parents Credit Card with paypal, or get one of your own, student credit cards are nice in that they have lowlimits (300-500) so you cant really go mad with spending even if you wanted to.

If you're buying from a British seller then they might take a Sterling bank draft. The bank will issue you one pretty cheaply and they're safe to post.

If you can find it - there is a facility to add a current/savings account. After logging in select the 'Profile' tab. Then under 'Financial Information' select 'Bank Accounts' etc etc

Two meanings.

Western Union. Should only be used with people you know and trust.

Bank to bank transfer. Means there is a permanent record, but people in other countries (and here aswell!) sometime have access to accounts that aren't theirs.

right from here in Ireland if you go in the lets say AIB can i lodge money in to the sellers bank in America

Well, you transfer to their account, not lodge, but it has the same effect.

Be aware that their are different products available and they can very hugely in price.
