Whenever I try to install the game an error message appears:

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the vender to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package.
    K:\Rome - total war(tm).msi"

anyone any idea on how to reactify it?

let me ask you, did u ever install Age of Wonders on ur current system... or install any .msi files ???

I had a prob wit my .msi files wen i had it installed....

i couldn't play most games, such as far cry, rome total war... all coz of the msi error....
the only thing that i could think of was to re-format my pc..... it worked,

as a last resort i formated my pc.... i tried everything for over a month before i did this...

i got a similar error message when i tried to install "the sims 2"
when i installed service pack 2 it installed without any hassle,if your going down this road though make sure you know what else will change when you install service pack 2

I'd have to do 150Gb back up  I'd like to exhaust all other options before that.

telling someone to uninstall something that wont even be there (i'd be willing to put money on it) and to then reinstall their os, is fairly **** advice tbh.

don't have a clue what you could do myself

well I'll scour the internet and if it's to no avail I guess I'll have to. Bad advice is better than no advice

You need to go to microsoft.com an download 1. download the .NET Framwork (dotnetfx.exe) from microsoft.com and install it. win2k and XP (however .Net has a newer version for XP but this will do) why are you still reading this?
